Gross Ammonification and Nitrification Rates in Soil Amended with Natural and NH4-Enriched Chabazite Zeolite and Nitrification Inhibitor DMPP

چکیده

Using zeolite-rich tuffs for improving soil properties and crop N-use efficiency is becoming popular. However, the mechanistic understanding of their influence on N-processes still poor. This paper aims to shed new light how natural NH4+-enriched chabazite zeolites alter short-term N-ammonification nitrification rates with without use inhibitor (DMPP). We employed 15N pool dilution technique determine gross ammonification in a silty-clay amended two typologies chabazite-rich tuff: (1) at state (2) enriched NH4+-N from an animal slurry. Archaeal bacterial amoA, nirS nosZ genes, N2O-N CO2-C emissions were also evaluated. The results showed modest effects only nitrate production rates, which was slightly delayed compared unamended soil. On other hand, addition stimulated production, emissions, but reduced NO3−-N abundance nirS-nosZ genes. DMPP reducing dependent N not affected by tested. outcomes this study indicated good compatibility both zeolite DMPP. In particular, application recommended mitigate losses.

Urethanes and Soil Nitrification

Urethanes have marked physiological activity in plants and animals. Lefevre (1939) found that phenyl urethane affects wheat germination, and subsequently Templeman and Sexton (1946) showed that a variety of urethanes suppress the germination of wheat and oats without affecting charlock. The most active urethanes (for example, isopropylphenylcarbamate;ethylphenylcarbamate) are effective at a con...

Archaeal Ammonia Oxidizers Dominate in Numbers, but Bacteria Drive Gross Nitrification in N-amended Grassland Soil

Both ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) play an important role in nitrification in terrestrial environments. Most often AOA outnumber AOB, but the relative contribution of AOA and AOB to nitrification rates remains unclear. The aim of this experiment was to test the hypotheses that high nitrogen availability would favor AOB and result in high gross nitrificatio...

Microbial immobilization of ammonium and nitrate in relation to ammonification and nitrification rates in organic and conventional cropping systems

Agricultural systems that receive high or low organic matter (OM) inputs would be expected to differ in soil nitrogen (N) transformation rates and fates of ammonium (NH4 þ) and nitrate (NO3 ). To compare NH4 þ availability, competition between nitrifiers and heterotrophic microorganisms for NH4 þ, and microbial NO3 2 assimilation in an organic vs. a conventional irrigated cropping system in the...
